Join Dorothy as she is whisked away from Kansas to the vibrant land of Oz, where she sets off on an unforgettable journey to find the Wizard and a way home. Along the Yellow Brick Road, she befriends the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion, each searching for something they believe they lack. But their path is full of challenges, as the Wicked Witch of the West will stop at nothing to seize Dorothy’s magical shoes. With courage, friendship, and a touch of magic, Dorothy discovers that the power to return home was within her all along.

This past weekend, the Storybook Stage Company whisked children and adults alike to the enchanting world of Wonderland. Under the creative direction of the talented 15-year-old Kira Clark, this young actors' group in Denmark presented a vibrant and heartwarming adaptation of the beloved tales "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass."

Alice, charmingly portrayed by Summer Thompson, followed the ever-frenzied White Rabbit, played by Eloise Bellanger, down the rabbit hole into the whimsical Wonderland. The stage erupted in a riot of colors as Alice encountered an array of eccentric characters, including the wise and chatty Cheshire Cat, brought to life by Isabella Fiocco-Ramos.

Together, Alice and her newfound friends navigated through Wonderland, meeting the flamboyant Mad Hatter, the boisterous March Hare, the adorable Dormouse, the funky Caterpillar, and the fabulously funny Tweedledum and Tweedledee, among many others! The young actors captivated the audience, transporting them to this much-loved storybook land. The cast, ranging in age from three to eleven, showcased a beautiful blend of talent, representing local primary schools and home-schooled children.

This innovative adaptation took a modern twist, featuring the tyrannical Queen, played by Saoirse Naughton, being tricked into peering into a magical looking glass. This transformative moment saw the Queen renounce her crown, embracing a mission to promote happiness and freedom—a powerful message! The Mad Hatter's Tea Parties, the vibrant flower garden, whimsical chess game, and lively carnivals made this stage play an unforgettable experience for all.

The young actors were thrilled with the positive audience feedback, and their joy in performing was evident. The Storybook Stage Company, under Kira Clark's passionate guidance, has now completed its second production and eagerly plans its next venture for Brave New Works 2025.
